Spider pictures

Do this at the END of the day! (The last 45 minutes) Spider Art: Mix half glue and half black liquid tempera paint in about 8 Elmers glue bottles. (The kind with an orange tip). Shake it (Outside :) Cover all your tables with paper. Model on a Elmo how to make the web and spider. I used white art paper. You start with a dot in the middle and then draw lines going out. Hook the lines together. Draw a circle for the spider with two eyes. Upside down Vs make the legs and then add little feet. After modeling, I put on a movie and have the kids watch it at the rug. Then I call over four at a time to two tables. I make sure the glue is coming out right and they make their picture. We use some old gray paper to sit it on and they pick up the paper when they take it to a drying spot. You dry it overnight. The next afternoon, model how to color each shape a different color. Show them how to color different directions to make it darker. It gets darker every layer of crayon. They LOVE making these. If the glue goes on globby or not how they wanted it to, it just looks more creepy! We are going to do spider acrostic poems to go with them. FYI - If you don't want to make black glue, You can do this with white glue on black paper and it has a similar effect.
